In our first year we attracted more than 618,000 visitors to 269 events, generating an economic impact of £207million to the city region. Since opening, we have attracted more than 6.6 million visitors to over 3,500 events across our entire site and generated £1.5bn in economic benefit for the local economy.
In the financial year 2016 – 17, The ACC Liverpool Group delivered £204m in economic benefit for the Liverpool city region bringing the overall economic impact since the complex opened to more than £1.4bn. During the same period, 258 events – a variety of national and international conferences; public and trade exhibitions and entertainment events - took place attracting more than 660,000 delegates and visitors.
Echo Arena Liverpool has played host to a raft of significant events from both the world of music and entertainment and sport. Echo Arena has been the venue of choice for the MOBO Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards, the GB Judo World Cup, the British Gymnastics Championships and Davis Cup Tennis, to name but a few. In 2017 an exciting line-up of superstars from the world of music, comedy, sport and theatre came to the venue including Bruno Mars, the Liverpool International Horse Show and the return of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards for the second time. 2018 has already seen a host of shows including Celebrating Sgt Pepper: Live and Fast and Furious Live Preview Shows. Future highlights include Roger Waters, Cirque du Soleil, Kylie and Netball World Cup in 2019. The venue will host the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2022. The Liverpool Collection Lounge opened in September 2017, a new mezzanine floor constructed inside the arena concourse which has been transformed into a stunning hospitality space with spectacular views across the waterfront.
