On behalf of a spokesperson for Echo Arena: We regret to announce that the Liverpool International Horse Show has been cancelled tonight due to a serious fire in the multi storey car park on site.

All people and horses are safe and secure.

We are working alongside the emergency services to ensure the fire is brought under control and to make the site safe as quickly as possible.

Please note that there is no access to the ACC Liverpool site.

We will provide regular updates when we can.

Charlotte Dujardin to join Carl Hester and compete at The Liverpool International Horse Show

The countdown begins! The Liverpool International Horse Show is back for a third year running from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 December with a feast of world-class show-jumping and dressage, family entertainment including Motocross Freestyle displays and live music.

The show will feature some of the world’s finest riders, including Olympians and global sports stars, who will compete for the ultimate Grand Prix Liver Bird Show Jumping trophy. Triple Olympic gold medallist, Charlotte Dujardin will join her trainer and mentor, dressage legend Carl Hester to compete at the Liverpool International Horse Show. On Friday 29 December the two icons of British dressage, Carl and Charlotte will be bringing two of their 2020 Olympic potential horses, Hawtins Delicato and En Vogue to take part in the new Equitop Myoplast Inter 1 Freestyle (Dressage to Music) class held on the Friday evening performance. The ultimate crowd favourite, The Puissance, will be taking centre stage on the Saturday night.

Not just for horse enthusiasts, the three-day event promises to wow the crowd with a unique host of family-friendly entertainment. Adrenaline junkies will be in for a treat as Motocross Freestylers or ‘FMX riders’ are back by popular demand to deliver knuckle-biting bike stunts and expertly executed tricks. Internationally recognised riders will showcase their gravity-defying talents by launching themselves 40ft in the air off purpose built ramps, complete with lights, pyro and music.

The world’s leading show jumpers will be out in force at this year’s Liverpool International Horse Show as they battle it out for a place in the prestigious Hope Valley Saddlery Grand Prix on New Year’s Eve. The Whitaker dynasty will be represented by John, Michael and Robert who are all set to compete at this festive show jumping finale.

As well as the ever popular Whitaker’s, leading British stars, Laura Renwick, Robert Smith, Jessica Mendoza, Will Funnell, Guy Williams, Louise Saywell and Nigel Coupe will be joining them to provide the very best show jumping sport in the run up to the New Year. Last year’s leading rider, Germany’s Felix Hassman will once again be looking to repeat his run of form at the 4* show and will be joined by Belgian rider Constant van  Paesschen as well as a host of other overseas stars. Irish legend and Grand National Winner Paul Carberry will also be show jumping at the event.

A firm favourite for the kids, The Shetland Pony Grand National will be returning to the show. Liverpool is renowned for hosting the most famous steeplechase in the world at Aintree, so the show will be bringing the audience its own version of the famous race in miniature! Pint sized jockeys and ponies will be making a high-speed dash for glory, before being led to the winner’s enclosure.

New for this year, a completely bespoke horse stunt performance, ‘Luminoso’, will take to the arena and dazzle crowds with a one-of-a-kind act, involving the most talented and internationally renowned trick riders in the world. ‘Luminoso’ will bring together riders from Britain, Germany and Russia who are trained in a host of circus skills, including fire breathing, acrobatics and twirling fire batons. Visitors can expect a breath-taking performance with never-before-seen stunts coming from Russia.

Rick Parfitt Jnr (son of Status Quo’s legendary guitarist and singer, Rick Parfitt) will be performing live music for every session at the show, culminating in the North West’s largest New Year’s Eve party.

Virgin Trains operates hourly, direct services from London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street (with a journey time of just over two hours). Other long-distance rail services also operate into Liverpool Lime Street station.

Echo Arena is a 20-minute walk from Lime Street or a short taxi ride. You can also transfer at Lime Street onto the underground Wirral Line trains to James Street station (10 minute walk) or catch the CityLink Route C4 (7am – 8pm) directly to the venue. If travelling from outside Merseyside, you can catch an underground train to James Street station from Lime Street station, inclusive of the cost of your ticket.

Flying into Liverpool John Lennon Airport...

A taxi from the airport to the city centre will take approximately 20 minutes or the express bus service Route 500 will take approximately 25 minutes, dropping you off within a five minute walk of Echo Arena, while Manchester’s international airport is just 45 minutes away by car.

Most Liverpool city centre bound buses will call at either Queen Square bus station (a 15-minute walk) or Liverpool ONE Bus Station, which is only a five minute walk to Echo Arena.
