Facts and Figures

Echo Arena stands at the heart of the development of Kings Waterfront, an iconic cultural legacy of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. The award-winning facilities sit alongside the Grade I listed Albert Dock complex and World Heritage Site on the eastern bank of the river Mersey, in the heart of Liverpool city centre.

The 11,000 seat Echo Arena has played host to a range of artists from Bob Dylan, Elton John, Girls Aloud and Cliff Richard to Beyoncé, Andrea Bocelli, Leonard Cohen and the Pretenders. Highlights of the first year include centrepiece events in every field; a TV audience of millions saw both the MTV Europe Music Awards and BBC Sports Personality of the Year broadcast live from Liverpool’s new arena.

In its first year alone, more than 665,000 visitors headed for more than 200 events at ACC Liverpool, generating £200 million for the local economy and £30 million of positive global media coverage.

Every year Echo Arena also hosts Liverpool’s annual Summer Pops extravaganza, with a host of international stars from classical to pop and tribute acts, including Squeeze, the Pet Shop Boys, Jools Holland, Gloria Estefan and the Pussycat Dolls in 2009.

Designed by award-winning architects Wilkinson Eyre, Echo Arena has been awarded a string of environmental and architectural accolades – it is one of the most sustainable venues in Europe, designed to reduce by half its CO2  emissions; features across the complex control light, temperature and electricity usage and harvest rainwater for toilet flushing, while a crop of turbines on the river generate its own electricity supply.

Echo Arena contains a raft of facilities for visitors, including 22 VIP hospitality boxes, food and drink concessions, a 1600 space car park, bike racks and a drop-off point and is fully accessible for all of our guests.

The arena can also be used in conjunction with BT Convention Centre for exhibition and event space, with a floor space of 3,400 m2 and both mother and daughter grids, allowing the flexibility of moving the position of the stage and lighting. With the BT Convention Centre, event organisers have access to a total of more than 7000 m2 purpose-built, flexible space.
