ACC Liverpool and National Museums Liverpool have teamed up to host an innovative art display at ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena.

Visitors to the waterfront venue will be greeted by the first phase of giant artworks to promote National Museums Liverpool’s world class collections.

The So Close… initiative is funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and  will see a number of iconic objects and artworks from National Museums Liverpool’s city centre museums and galleries bursting through the walls, including the famous Titanic crashing through the Galleria wall and a view of Ben Johnson’s Liverpool Cityscape in the main entrance.  The biggest manifestation will feature a giant West African bronze head peeking through the arena window onto the surrounding piazza.

So Close…is designed to signpost some of the city's amazing cultural attractions to concert goers and conference delegates that are within walking distance of the venue.

The displays will be refreshed to promote other cultural venues across the city.

Bob Prattey, Chief Executive at ACC Liverpool said: "The idea behind the project is to showcase the city's cultural attractions to our visitors, enhancing their experience of Liverpool.  In addition, it gives us the opportunity to bring some art into the venue, complementing and enhancing the architecture of the building."

Professor Phil Redmond, Chairman at National Museums Liverpool, added: "This is a fantastic opportunity to reveal the wealth of our world famous collections in an innovative way to reach new audiences . ACC Liverpool is a striking, modern venue and the art works will give the building a new feel and link it to other key attractions across the city."

Nick Brooks-Sykes, Director of Tourism at the NWDA, said: "ACC Liverpool is a fantastic venue that is drawing thousands of new visitors to Liverpool every year; be it for international conferences or to see top performers. This exciting initiative will give those visitors an insight into the fantastic cultural offer across the city and will hopefully encourage them to discover a bit more of Liverpool for themselves. It’ll also add to the visitor experience of ACC Liverpool, creating a positive image of the city and encouraging people to return."
