Echo Arena Liverpool has smashed its box office record for a family show.
A total of 58,000 visitors attended Disney on Ice for a run of 11 performances over five days.
The previous record was 56,000 tickets for Mamma Mia! in 2010 and prior to that 43,000 for Walking with Dinosaurs in 2009.
Tickets were issued through the Echo Arena and TicketQuarter box offices for the show which featured the number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen, as well as The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel and Beauty and the Beast.
Tim Banfield, commercial director of The ACC Liverpool Group, home to Echo Arena, BT Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool, said: “This is the eighth time we have hosted Disney on Ice and this particular run has been a phenomenal success.
“It is our top ranking family show in terms of ticket sales and the second best-selling overall since we opened in 2008 – it was just pipped to the post by John Bishop’s run in 2010.
“The audiences really engaged with the performances, with the majority of the kids dressed in fancy dress, it created such a buzz in the venue.”
Forthcoming highlights include Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastics British Championships 2015, Cbeebies Live and Olly Murs.
TicketQuarter is the ticketing arm of The ACC Liverpool Group.
